Virginia Humanities Announces $267k Awarded to 29 Organizations Across the Commonwealth
Virginia—Virginia Humanities, the state’s humanities council, announced $267,148 in grants to 29 nonprofit cultural organizations.
“These projects reflect the many ways the humanities help us understand our communities and the people who have shaped them,” said Adam Courville, Director of Grants and Fellowships at Virginia Humanities. “From engaging young writers, documenting local communities, preserving oral histories and cultural traditions, and interpreting Virginia's diverse past, these projects create real opportunities for people across the commonwealth to explore history, share perspectives, and deepen their understanding of one another.”

Virginia Humanities also recently announced changes to their grants program including the renaming of two grant programs to "Major Grants" and "Opportunity Grants" as well as a new grant initiative called Community Action Grants. The changes to the programs go into effect on July 1, 2026.
